His name is Robert V and he is my stranger no. 15. Robert came from Tasmania and spent his time traveling between there and Singapore. He is a member of the Singapore Urban Sketchers, a cool group who usually go on a monthly outing together to draw. When I met him, he was drawing a tea shop near the Kreta Ayer market in Chinatown. His name is Iain and he is my stranger no. 14. Iain, who is an engineer, came from Scotland and is now living and working in Australia. He was having his cigar and a glass of Scotch whisky when I saw him in Brisbane last Thursday night.MORE +

His name Didzis and he is my stranger no. 13. He works as an SAP Consultant in the CRM space for a company in Latvia. He is currently in Singapore for a business trip.MORE +

The guy’s name is Xi Min and his girlfriend is Nancy and they are my strangers no. 12. Xi Min came from China and is currently working in Singapore in the Semiconductor company. He has a cool Canon GIII QL or Canonet QL-17, a rangefinder film camera that Canon first introduced in 1972. MORE +

Her name is Encarni and she is my stranger no. 11. She is from Singapore and does not work at An Siang Hill. OK, I am cheating a little bit here. When I started this project, I told myself that I needed to know at least three things about my stranger. MORE +

His name is Azmil and he is my stranger no. 8. This cool looking guy is a student of one of the Polytechnics here in Singapore and lives somewhere in the north of Singapore. He was waiting for his friend for dinner when I met him. I like his hat and his glasses.  :) MORE +

His name is Ken and he is my stranger no. 7. When I met him he was waiting for his friend at Haji Lane. True blue Singaporean and his work place is very far, he said. He seems to like skateboarding as I saw him doing that after I took this shot.MORE +

His name is Khai. He is half Indonesian, half Singaporean. He works somewhere near Orchard Road. He has cool tattoo and cool earrings as you can see here, but relax, he is my friendly stranger no. 6. MORE +

100 Strangers Project – No. 5

His name is Aditya. I met him last weekend in Kampong Glam and he is my Stranger No. 5. He just came to Singapore very recently from Mumbai, India and guess what .. we have common friends whom I worked with when I was working in Manila between 2006 to 2008. What a small world. I love the idea of six degrees of separation / Human Web. I am not sure if I can link all my 100 Strangers in the end, but one thing for sure, they will all be linked to me now.  :)

100 Strangers Project – No. 4

His name is John and he is the 4th in my 100 Strangers Photography Project. He is a taxi driver from Singapore in his late fifties. He looked much younger though. I took his taxi home from the City Hall area last week and did not get a chance to talk to him until the last 3 minutes or so because I was on the phone with my friend who called just before I got into the cab. Her name is Lis and she is no. 3 in my 100 Strangers Project. This bubbly mid twenties girl is from East Java, Indonesia. I know that the photo above does not show her bubbly side, but she is. Lis loves cooking and has lots of recipe books at home, she said. MORE +

It’s always hard to start something new, and the key is to just start it and get your behind off the chair, get up and do it. So, I am glad that I started this few weeks ago and posted the announcement that I would do this 100 Strangers photography project. 100 Strangers – A Photography Project

100 Strangers, that’s my new personal photography project I have been talking about. Shooting strangers itself is not new to me as I have done it a lot during my travels in the past. Some of those travel portraits of strangers can be seen here in this blog entry. I also wrote my top 10 travel portrait photography tips here before. But, I am giving it a little twist to make it more challenging and interesting.
